How can we skip OneMusic?

OneMusic collects fees for music registered with collecting societies. If you play mainstream music in your waiting room, reception, or treatment areas, via radio, Spotify, or CDs, you owe them a licence fee.

Melodial is different. We own or directly licence every track in our catalogue. None of our music is registered with OneMusic New Zealand or any other collecting society. No royalties to collect means no licence fees to pay.

If a patient or staff member can hear music, whether from waiting room speakers, a phone at reception, or a radio in a treatment room, it counts as a public performance and needs a commercial licence, even for a single-practitioner clinic. Can I just use my Spotify or Apple Music subscription?
We wish. Personal streaming accounts are licensed for private, non-commercial use only, so playing them where patients can hear the music is still an unlicensed public performance, whatever the tier.
