What practices pay for waiting room music
If your patients can hear music, in the waiting room, reception, or treatment areas, you need a licence. Collecting societies charge based on premises size and number of rooms where music is audible. Melodial replaces both the licence and the music source.

OneMusic fees based on its published rate schedules. Includes 15% GST. The traditional figure includes an estimated music subscription of about $25/month, since a licence does not include a music source. Full details on our licensing guide.
How can we skip OneMusic?
OneMusic collects fees for music registered with collecting societies. If you play mainstream music in your waiting room, reception, or treatment areas, via radio, Spotify, or CDs, you owe them a licence fee.
Melodial is different. We own or directly licence every track in our catalogue. None of our music is registered with OneMusic New Zealand or any other collecting society. No royalties to collect means no licence fees to pay.
Your Melodial subscription is your licence. One flat price covers your entire practice, waiting room, reception, treatment rooms, and corridors.
Certificate of Compliance included. Download your official licence certificate from your account. If OneMusic or any licensing body contacts your medical or dental practice, show them the certificate. You're covered. And if you need help responding, forward us their email and we'll draft the reply.
The three rights you need to play music commercially
There are three separate rights involved in playing music in a business. The traditional system makes you deal with them across multiple bills. With Melodial, all three are in the one subscription.
Recording rights
The right to stream a specific sound recording of a song.
✓ Covered by MelodialPublishing rights
The right to use the underlying composition and lyrics.
✓ Covered by MelodialPublic performance rights
The right to play music in a commercial environment where customers can hear it.
✓ Covered by MelodialMelodial owns or directly licenses every track in its catalogue. None of it is registered with any collecting society, so there are no royalties to collect and no licence fees to pay. Your subscription is your licence.

Melodial has taken the stress out of music licensing, reducing our costs substantially while delivering high-quality background music that suits our Allied Health Clinic perfectly. Setting up our preferred playlist was simple, and the intuitive app makes it easy for our staff to manage day-to-day. Thanks Melodial.
We have been using Melodial for nearly 6 months now at our physio clinic and believe it to be incredible value for money. The playlists are constantly growing which is great and new music is regularly added. A very cost effective way to provide a nicer ambience at our little clinic which needs to be mindful of excessive overheads.

Music that helps patients feel at ease
Research shows background music reduces perceived wait times and patient anxiety, particularly in dental practices where nervousness is common. Melodial's ambient and classical playlists are designed for exactly this purpose: calming, unobtrusive, and professional.
You can also create AI voice announcements for patient information, appointment reminders, hygiene notices, or practice updates, that play between tracks. No recording equipment needed.
